MSNBC’s Jen Psaki momentarily slipped back into her former role as White House press secretary—at least in spirit—by poking fun at the current atmosphere in the briefing room under President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt.
“The White House briefing room has gotten a little strange lately,” Psaki said on her show Friday. “So I thought, why not? It’s Friday night. Let’s shake off the dust and take a few questions, just like old times.”
Appearing in front of a backdrop resembling the White House press room, Psaki proceeded to answer actual questions that reporters had asked earlier in the day—this time, she noted, “without the usual MAGA spin.”
One question focused on why Trump’s White House chose to unveil a trade agreement with the United Kingdom before the finer points had been finalized.
Jen Psaki—who served as President Joe Biden’s press secretary from 2021 to 2022—didn’t hold back in her commentary.
“It’s really all about the spectacle and the headlines,” she said. “The substance? That comes second—if at all. Trump gets his moment in the Oval Office spotlight and can claim a big win, even if the deal itself is mostly hollow.”
