Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Pays Tribute to Angelina Jolie by Changing Her Name

Shiloh, the 19-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is embracing a new chapter—and a new name. Making a public appearance at the Isabel Marant x Net-A-Porter capsule collection launch in Los Angeles on May 29, she was officially listed as “Shi Jolie,” a sleek version of her name that drops her father’s surname in favor of one that pays tribute to her mother.

For the event, Shi choreographed an original dance piece performed by Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuki, set to Luella’s track “Naïve.” The star-studded crowd included the likes of Alison Brie, January Jones, and Rachel Bilson.

This marks the first major public use of the name “Shi Jolie,” a move that follows her decision in May 2024—on her 18th birthday—to legally drop “Pitt” from her surname. She handled the process independently, hiring her own attorney and covering the costs herself. By August, the change to “Shiloh Jolie” was officially approved by the court.

Shi isn’t alone in stepping away from the Pitt name. Her sister Zahara, 20, introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” during her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority initiation at Spelman College last November. Their younger sister Vivienne, 16, was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for The Outsiders on Broadway, where she worked behind the scenes under Angelina’s mentorship. Whether either of them has made their name changes official remains unconfirmed.

These name shifts come against the backdrop of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s long and contentious divorce. The couple, who wed in 2014 after nearly a decade together, separated in 2016. They were declared legally single in 2019, but the divorce wasn’t finalized until December 2024 after a protracted legal battle.

At the time, Jolie’s attorney said the actress felt “exhausted” but relieved that the process was finally over. Pitt, meanwhile, downplayed the moment. When asked by GQ in May if he felt any sense of closure, he responded, “No. I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”

As the family continues to evolve post-divorce, Shi Jolie’s new identity marks a powerful step forward—a symbol of independence, artistic expression, and a clear alignment with her mother’s legacy.
