This year, the ITV talent show has seen several format changes, including weekly semi-finals instead of daily ones, and the introduction of a golden buzzer that can fast-track an act straight to the final.

The 10 finalists, ranging from magicians to singers and dancers, will now give their final performances in hopes of winning the £250,000 prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

However, the finale began with a surprise for viewers as one act returned as the wildcard. The wildcard is an act that was eliminated during the semi-finals but has been selected by the judges to return for the final, reports the Manchester Evening News.

This year’s wildcards were revealed to be ABBA tribute act Hannah and Fran. The lively pair were knocked out in the second semi-final, but Simon Cowell announced their return, stating that viewers ‘loved’ them.

The office workers were the first act to perform in the final, delivering another ABBA medley.
However, viewers were not pleased with the judges’ wildcard choice, voicing their complaints on X.

Twitter user @_justjennie expressed her disappointment, stating: “Sorry wrong choice Simon #wildcard #BGT #BGTFinal,” while @JoeyKay20 was equally unimpressed, commenting: “Judges wildcard being a terrible ABBA tribute act? ! #BGT.”

@SophieSharpie voiced her frustration, tweeting: “I cannot believe they’ve put Han and Fran through as a wildcard when we had a woman on a unicycle throwing bowls on her hair and some great musicians and danger acts. Show is a shambles. #bgt #britainsgottalent.”

Similarly, @samdawkins1234 labelled it the “BGT worst wildcard ever,” and @Rayinatorsport agreed, saying: “I cannot believe the worst act of last weeks semi final got the wildcard Sums up this season tbf #bgt.”
