Brazilian Woman Who ‘Married’ a Rag Doll Now Has a ‘Son’ with Him — Says Life with Kids Is Complicated
KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — A woman in Brazil has gone viral for her unconventional love story after “marrying” a rag doll and now claims to be raising a child with him.
Meirivone Rocha Moraes, 37, said she fell in love the moment her mother introduced her to Marcelo — a life-sized rag doll she crafted in response to her daughter’s loneliness and frequent complaints about being single.
What started as a quirky gesture quickly turned into a full-blown romance. Moraes and Marcelo went on to hold a wedding ceremony attended by 250 guests, and the couple even celebrated their honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro.
But the story doesn’t stop there. On May 21, the pair “welcomed” a baby boy named Marcelinho, with Moraes livestreaming the “birth” to more than 200 viewers.
“Life with children is complicated,” Moraes admitted, though she says her love for Marcelo remains strong. Despite acknowledging that her cloth-made husband can be a bit lazy, she insists he’s the perfect partner.
“He’s the man I always wanted. He doesn’t fight with me or argue — he just understands me,” she said. “Marcelo is a faithful and excellent husband. So many women are jealous of the man I have.”
Moraes also pushes back against critics who call her story fake or staged.
“It really bothers me when people say this isn’t real. I’m a woman of character. I was raised to be honest, kind, and respectful,” she said. “I’m not doing this to fool anyone.”
