A Mother, a Baby, and an Unexpected Companion
When Alicia Silvers was seven months pregnant, she received heartbreaking news—her husband, John, had died in a car accident. The shock sent her into early labor. With help from a neighbor, she gave birth to a premature baby boy, Edduin, who spent several weeks in the NICU before coming home.
Determined to move forward, Alicia took over John’s business, running it from home while caring for her newborn. As time passed, life began to settle. However, Alicia noticed something odd: Edduin often cried at night and seemed constantly tired, even though doctors found nothing wrong and reassured her it was just a phase.
Then one day, Alicia heard strange noises—soft laughter and movement—coming from the nursery. No one was there. Curious and a little uneasy, she set up a baby monitor. What she saw on the live feed left her speechless: Edduin was smiling at something moving near his crib.
When she rushed in, she discovered the source—a small, scruffy dog hiding behind the crib. It wasn’t anything supernatural, just a stray that had come in through an old dog door left over from their late family dog, Doblo.
Moved by the dog’s gentle presence and the way Edduin responded to him, Alicia decided to keep him and named him Casper. The little dog quickly became part of the family. His bond with Edduin brought peace and comfort, helping both mother and child heal—and finally, sleep through the night.
