Mother Claims Drunken Fans Pushed Eight-Year-Old Cancer Survivor at Her First NFL Game
A mother has come forward with a heartbreaking account, alleging that a group of intoxicated fans pushed her eight-year-old daughter—who is a cancer survivor—down the stairs during her very first NFL game.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, December 1, during the matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers. According to Mikey DeCamilla, her daughter Mia, a survivor of embryonal sarcoma, was shoved by a group of inebriated Bills fans while attending the game at Highmark Stadium with her parents.
Mia, who proudly carried a sign reading “I BEAT CANCER! MY FIRST NFL GAME!”, had been eagerly anticipating the experience. But the day took a disturbing turn when, according to her mother, she was pushed down a flight of stairs in Section 312.
Mikey took to social media to share her frustration and disbelief. “Sadly, we left earlier than planned,” she wrote on Facebook. “Yes, the Niners were losing, but we had to deal with the police because a drunk Bills fan decided it was okay to pass my husband and me and push our eight-year-old daughter—Warrior Mia—down the stairs.”
She added, “If you are this type of Bills Mafia fan, please unfollow our family now. I hope the person who thought it was acceptable to push a child—standing in the cold holding her cancer-free sign—thinks it was worth your team’s win.”
Her emotional post quickly went viral, with many expressing outrage and support for Mia and her family.
Mia’s story has resurfaced alongside a GoFundMe campaign originally launched to help cover the costs of her cancer treatment. As of now, the fundraiser has garnered nearly $34,000 in donations.
The campaign details Mia’s journey: Diagnosed in January 2022 with childhood undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver, she underwent four months of pre-surgery chemotherapy, followed by a grueling 12-hour liver resection on May 23, 2022. Mia completed eight additional weeks of chemotherapy and was declared in remission on July 25.
“To ease the family’s financial stress and help with daily expenses—food, fuel, bills, mortgage—we are asking for donations,” the fundraiser states. “With both parents being Marine Corps veterans and her mom currently out of work to care for Mia, every contribution makes a difference.”
It concludes with a tribute to Mia’s resilience: “Mia is strong, brave, and beautiful. She will show cancer who’s boss—again.”
