Kim Kardashian sparks outrage as she asks kids ‘tone-deaf’ question after revealing they aren’t ‘comfortable’ around disabled family member

Kim Kardashian has been slammed after asking her children an ‘inappropriate’ question about their disabled family member

Kim Kardashian has come under fire for comments she made about her children potentially feeling uncomfortable around Tristan Thompson’s younger brother, Amari, who has a disability. The backlash occurred after an episode of The Kardashians aired, showing Kim’s children attending Amari’s 18th birthday party.

Amari, who has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy, was joined by several Kardashian/Jenner children, including Penelope, 12, North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 7, Stormi and True, both 6, Psalm, 5, and Tatum, 2.

In the episode, Kim admitted that her children had “a lot of questions” about Amari’s condition and might not be entirely comfortable around him. One viewer criticized her, saying, “Why would Kim ask those kids if they’re scared of Amari? What kind of tone-deaf question is that?” Others expressed frustration, with one person calling it “vile” to exploit Amari’s condition for the show, while another asked, “Scared of what?”

However, some viewers defended Kim’s handling of the situation, with one commenter writing, “Amari is clearly so loved.” Others praised the educational aspect of the episode, saying it promoted inclusion. “Knowledge is power, and that leads to inclusion,” one person said.

Kim later explained that she wanted her children to grow up around people with different abilities. “It’s important that they play with him and really get to know him,” she said. Khloé Kardashian, who co-parents two children with Tristan, shared that her children, True and Tatum, are more accustomed to Amari and that exposure to people with disabilities is valuable. She described Amari as “one of the most special souls” she’s ever met.

Some viewers, however, felt that filming the birthday party was inappropriate. One person wrote, “Beautiful message, just not something that needed to be filmed for profit.” Another added, “Everything true… Wish it wasn’t televised, though.”
