North Texas girls among those missing after Kerr Co. flooding

Catastrophic flooding along the Guadalupe River has resulted in at least 20 girls missing from Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp in Hunt, Texas. Among those unaccounted for are two North Texas girls, Eloise Peck and Lila Bonner, according to their parents.

The river surged an incredible 26 feet in just 45 minutes after powerful storms dumped up to 15 inches of rain across the region. Search and rescue efforts are underway, involving 14 helicopters and between 400 to 500 emergency personnel. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said, “They could be in a tree. They could be out of communication.”

Camp officials stated that while some campers were successfully evacuated by helicopter, others are still missing. Families have been notified, and the search continues with urgency and determination.

Kerr County has labeled the flooding as “catastrophic,” confirming at least 13 deaths so far, with more people still missing. Officials are asking the public to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts and prayers.

What began as a joyful Fourth of July quickly turned into a nightmare as families await news and rescue crews continue working tirelessly.
