‘Snow White’ producer’s son blames ‘narcissistic’ Rachel Zegler for movie’s poor performance

Just last week, People reported that Rachel even allegedly had “tension” with her Snow White costar, Israeli actor Gal Gadot, because of their differing “political views,” and yesterday, Variety reported that Rachel’s words had also allegedly alarmed Disney executives.

The report comes amid a disappointing opening weekend — with the film bringing in just $43 million domestically from a rumored $270-million budget — and claims there was a fallout behind the scenes after Rachel tweeted “free Palestine” shortly after the trailer’s release. It says that after the tweet, a Disney employee spoke to Rachel’s team on behalf of the company to share their concerns, and producer Marc Platt also sought to encourage Rachel to delete her post, with Marc apparently traveling to New York to talk to her.

Still, Rachel continued to be outspoken in her support for Palestine, plus more, including her dislike for Donald Trump. The report says that in the midst of that, Gal started facing death threats — to the point that Disney had to hire security to protect her.

“She didn’t understand the repercussions of her actions as far as what that meant for the film, for Gal, for anyone,” a source said of Rachel.

“That movie should be a billion-dollar movie,” another source said as insiders essentially argued that Rachel’s behavior basically impacted the movie’s success, along with delays and expensive reshoots.

Naturally, people had a lot to say about the report, with many pushing back on the idea that Rachel was solely to blame for the film’s performance.”This is crazy,” one Reddit user said as another called the report a “hit piece” on Rachel.

“I don’t know why these people are so intent on attacking her,” the person continued. “there’s no reason for it. There are many other celebs who are more deserving of the vitriol.”

Another stated, “Disney never took the film seriously so idk why so much of this has been thrown on Rachel.”

People also called out the producers for “trying to gaslight” people into believing “the movie’s box office failure” was because of Rachel’s tweets.”By all accounts Zegler is the best thing about this and I see you Disney trying to throw her under the bus for it,” a Reddit user wrote.

And before long, the comments had spilled over to Marc’s son Jonah Platt’s Instagram page, with one user reportedly taking to his comments to ask about the report. “Your dad flew across NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any words on this?” the person asked. “Cuz that’s creepy as hell and uncalled for. People have the right to free speech, no? Shame on your father.”In a since-deleted comment, Jonah reportedly replied, “You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for.”“This is called adult responsibility and accountability,” he continued. “And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office.” Jonah expressed, “Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”
