Ingredients:
- 8 slices white or sandwich bread
- 8 slices of melty cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
- 4 tbsp softened butter or mayonnaise (garlic butter adds great flavor!)
- ½ to 1 cup shredded cheese (for a crispy topping)
- Optional additions: mustard, ham, or tomato slices
Instructions:
- Assemble the sandwiches:
- Place 1–2 slices of cheese between two slices of bread.
- Add mustard, ham, or tomato slices if desired.
- Butter the outside:
- Spread a thin layer of butter or mayo on the outside of each sandwich.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on one or both outer sides for a crispy, cheesy crust.
- Air fry:
- Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 3 minutes.
- Place the sandwiches in the basket (cook in batches if needed).
- Air fry for 4–5 minutes, flip carefully, then cook another 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
- Serve:
- Let cool for 1–2 minutes to allow the cheese to set.
- Serve with tomato soup or a crisp side salad.
